A Storybook Year – 1996


Volume 89 of Niagara University's Niagaran, 1996 edition, was printed by Herff Jones Yearbooks, Inc., 525 Boyd's School Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325. Frank Schiavone served his second year as our local representative. 

The cover utilized a white base material No. 41088 with purple silkscreen paint applied No. 11. The artwork featured on the endsheets was transferred to white VC01 and printed on vibracolor stock. All pages were printed on 80 lb. bordeaux paper stock. 

All body copy was printed in 12 point Avant Garde. All captions were printed in 8 point Avant Garde. Divider page headlines and main headlines were set in 60 point and 48 point Freehand and Avant Garde, respectively. 

All senior portraits, faculty portraits, administration and student organization photos were taken by Lauren Studios, Inc., 147 Clay Road, Rochester, NY 14623. Deborah Judge served as account representative. Additional photos were taken by yearbook staff members or supplied by various campus offices and organizations. Opening section photos were supplied by the Office of Public Relations. Student body members were also invited to submit their own candid photos. 

Volume 89 of the Niagaran contains 200 pages. It had a press run of 1,500 copies and was financed through a portion of the student activities fee. Books were distributed to students in September 1996. 

Maureen Ormsby and Nancy Etzel served as co-editors for this edition. Jessica Biegaj headed the sports section and Beth Siegel coordinated the organization section. Other staff members divided their talents among such various tasks as copy writing, event photography, candid collection and layout design. The staff of 12 was moderated by Kate Koperski and Kim James Yarwood of Niagara University's Castellani Art Museum. Mr. Yarwood also served as our storybook's illustrator by creating the artwork for the endsheets and divider pages.
